Surfing
Surf's Up!
Hawaii is the true birthplace of surfing. Honolulu has some of the best learn-to-surf spots in all of the world. Waikiki Beach is world famous for its easy breaking, slow waves, which are especially good in the summertime.
When the winter comes, the big waves are over on the North Shore, at breaks like Waimea Bay, Sunset, and The Pipeline. You can watch professional surfers from around the world compete on the North Shore, usually in December, at these world class surfing breaks. Most of these waves are definitely NOT for beginners.
However, if you want to try surfing, then we recommend that you sign up for lessons on Waikiki. There are many services that provide equipment and lessons.
